Why do bad things happen to good people? Heard that question before? Maybe you’ve asked it yourself. It’s not an easy one to explain and I could write a really really long post about my thoughts on it, but instead, I want to focus on one thing: perspective. Perspective of the “bad things”. Watch this (click on the video.)
Having a brain tumor caused Scott to have stunted growth. Growing up short made him get into skating. Getting into skating lead him to be an Olympic medalist…and so on. When he was 10, did he know the outcome of where his “disability” would take him? Probably not. Were his parents sad for him and feel bad that he was teased by other kids? Oh, I’m sure of it. Were they sad that he won Gold medals? I don’t think so. Our perspective is limited. God’s perspective is eternal. He sees how every little piece is woven together. The fact remains that He is good. That means, even bad things will be used for our good. We talked about this yesterday a bit and I’m taking it a step further. Not only can we have peace and joy about this truth, but we can have hope and excitement. It’s often that our deepest pain will be used for our highest gain.
Today’s challenge is fun (I think :))
Thanks for joining me for the last 5 days on this challenge. I’ve enjoyed putting this together. If this has benefited you in any way, let me know. I want to keep doing what helps people. If it’s not helpful, I certainly don’t want to use the time it takes to put it together in this way. I’d love it if you shared this challenge with your friends. It can be found on my blog under the category of “5 Day Challenge”. I’m putting it together soon so that people can sign up for it at any time and get it sent 1 day at a time into their inbox. Until then, they can read them via the blog.
Also, today begins the 2-week “Account-a-bila-buddy” program. It includes 2 strength workouts (designed for all levels and 1 can be done at home), 2 cardio workouts (again, designed for all levels and for people who workout at home), and a 2-week healthy nutrition plan (meals are balanced with a perfect combo of carbs:fats:proteins and recipes and grocery lists are included. It even tells you when to make what and when to eat it!) The goal is to sign up with a buddy (for accountability that I can’t give you virtually) and do the plan for the 2 weeks (I send the plan to you which tells you when to do what workouts, etc…) It’s $22 for 2 people ($11 for 1 person for 2 weeks…$5.50/week…skip your lattes or your magazine at the checkout stand and there’s your $5.50 for the week.) If you are fired up (or need firing up) and ready to take on another challenge, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and tell me that you “want in” for the next 2 weeks. I’ll get everything to you and get ya goin’!
Happy Valentine’s Day! I hope you have fueled your soul and challenged your body a little this week
