It takes courage to make lifestyle changes and faith to overcome our obstacles. My hope is that by sharing my personal and professional experiences with you, we can both be courageous in our journeys of faith and fitness!

Lunges and Life

Want to change your legs and glutes?  Do lunges.  Want to change your life?  Accept challenge.  Lunges can be our analogy for something I am gaining a deeper understanding of.  Lunges utilize so many muscles.  It’s for this reason that they are so effective!  Take a look at this pic!  It shows you all the muscles you are utilizing when doing a simple lunge (in blue and blue/gray).  Every variation puts more pressure in different areas.

Lunges don’t leave out too many muscles do they?  If you’ve ever done a lunge heavy workout, you know how they leave you feeling then…challenged and wiped!  But, the effort put in while accepting the natural challenge of a lunge has big pay offs.  It’s one of the best leg and butt shapers out there.

Like the lunge, our life presents challenges.  Some of them are obstacles or distractions, some of them are hurtful to the heart, and some of them are physical in nature.  Whatever kind of challenge we are presented with is an opportunity to grow.  Challenge is inevitable, but change is a choice.

My family and I have been facing many large challenges in the last 9 months.  I’ve always thought that I had big faith, big dreams, big hopes and big ambition.  BUT, what I’ve realized is that big faith isn’t enough.  Deep faith is necessary if we want to have roots that anchor, roots that provide nourishment and roots that create good fruit.  I’ve had a choice to make.  Do I let my challenges create deep faith and deep roots?

I say “yes” today.  As the lyrics from the song “Oceans” say, “Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander.  Where my faith can be made stronger.”

As you do this lunge workout, take a second to accept some “challenges” in your life as opportunities for change and deeper faith.
